FLOWER ESSENCES AND ESSENTIALS

Flower Essences have been in use for over seventy years in modern times, and are entirely benign and safe in their action.

Edward Bach compiled his repertoire of 38 remedies in England early last century, and since that time a number of different repertoires of essences have been established throughout the world, reflecting the healing energies of a range of environments and qualities of the natural world. Essences come from the Arctic regions, equatorial forests, deserts of North America, the bush of Australia, Findhorn in Scotland, the Pacific islands, and many other places.

Those familiar with their use testify to their powerful and subtle effects. Without any active promotion, the Rescue Remedy of Bach has achieved worldwide renown and usage, and is perhaps responsible, as a flag bearer for the essences, for the high integrity and reputation of essences in general.

The recent rediscovery of the healing effects and use of energetic healing, such as flower and other essences, Reiki and Chironic healing, is reclaiming a knowledge from our ancient past. These benign and non-invasive energetic tools are taking a place complementing and augmenting conventional healing techniques, and enabling a safe, more powerful, subtle and unique healing for us all....


USE AND DOSAGE

Flower essences are completely safe to use. They do not have adverse effects if taken while on courses of conventional medication, and they are not adversely affected by the use of strong flavours or scents in the diet or environment. Some flower essence manufacturers advise that they be kept away from other strong tasting or smelling substances, (essential oils for example), but I have not found that Travelling Light essences are diminished by these.

Their action is balancing, so that should you take an essence which is not appropriate for you, then the essence will have no effect: you cannot overdose with essences.

Some essences are taken as drops under the tongue, two or three times a day. Travelling Light essences may be used in a variety of ways (see below). A course of drops may last two or three weeks, at which time it may be appropriate to reassess the condition or state of mind, and change the essence used, or combination of essences, in response to changes occurring during that time.


Some combinations (such as Instant Calmer ™), are taken in response to acute conditions, and can be applied simply when needed. In this case, drops of the essence may be taken very frequently, say every five or ten minutes, in response to acute anxiety or trauma, until the emergency is past and equanimity regained.

Equally, some combinations or essences may be appropriately taken in response to a one-off situation, or a chronic condition. The use and applicability of the essences are very flexible and adapt to any kind of situation.

Travelling Light essences, as well as being useful for emotional and physical conditions, seem to be particularly useful for those who are actively working at spiritual development, using meditative techniques, and involved in energy work of any kind.


APPLICATION

There are many ways to use essences. I encourage you to use your intuition and imagination when deciding how to apply them.


Conventionally, essences were taken by mouth; Bach used to drink drops of his essences. There are many other alternatives to this, and also reasons why it might not be the most appropriate way to use them - for example, it's much easier to put a few drops on a cat's neck, than to get them to drink drops!

Essences work well applied to the skin, or sprayed in the atmosphere. You may feel like putting them on a chakra point, or bathing with them, or using them in a spray. Whatever seems like the thing to do, is fine.

There are more ways to apply essences than have been invented yet, and there are more uses for them than have been discovered yet.

Here are some suggestions:
*apply topically : drops can be applied to the skin, (wrists, temples, stomach) whatever is convenient. This may be especially useful for babies, for animals, for anyone who is unconscious. Placing drops on chakra or other sensitive points can be extremely effective. Try a few drops near your navel, or on the crown of your head.

There are no counter-indications with essences. Since they are an energetic healing tool they may be used by people who:
